John Chancey Memorial Fund

One of HOPE's dedicated board members, John Chancey, 57, died March 3, 2010, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
John was born March 11, 1952, in Ocala, Florida. He moved to Gainesville as a child and graduated from Gainesville High School in 1970. He later graduated from Nova University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. He worked for twenty-five years at Metal Container Corporation and then for four years as the Director of Facilities at The North Florida Retirement Village. John enjoyed camping, hiking, kayaking, and fishing, as well as spending time with his family and friends.
John is survived by his wife Kerry, his sons Adam and Chad, his mother Minnie Holtzclaw and his mother-in-law Glorya Murphy.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to HOPE - Horses Helping People to support a scholarship fund for riders.
